After working in information technology for her entire career, Zagreb, Croatia based, Tatjana wanted to branch out and express herself through a new medium.
With a tessellation of aesthetically attractive photographs tiling her blog, she uses simple but emotive words to inspire and show the world as she sees it.
I have a Masters in Economics from University of Zagreb in Croatia. I’ve worked in the information technology industry all my life as a business consultant, in various roles including enterprise resource planning, customer resource management and currently as a business intelligence consultant.
Despite this, I always had the idea of running my own blog in my head. A number of years ago, with a small group of friends who shared similar interests, we tried to establish a small project, however it never went further than an idea. Now I understand that it just was not the right time.
Time passed and I met a very significant person in my life, and I decided then that the time was right to finally start the blog project that I had always aspired to.
The idea, then and now, was simple. I really wanted to use few words, but words that had a strong and empathetic meaning. The mission on my lifestylebytatjana blog is inspiring people. I’m not trying to lecture people, or to convince them something is good or bad, or suitable. I’m just trying to tell the world how I see it and how I think about different situations in life and living. Mostly this is about emotions, as shown by most of the headlines talking about some emotion or situation affected with emotions: Freedom, Silence, Integrity, True love, A Soul Match, Lifetime People…
Every post actually starts with the photo which somehow inspires me and gives me headline and the subject of the post. Photos inspire me, maybe they refreshed my memory about some events, people, moments, emotions, and they are base for making the post and the story.
What’s been your proudest moment in business?
The posts where I get to talk about themes that I am passionate about. Travel and fashion were two areas that I wanted to write about, however I wanted to write about them from a deeper perspective.
I wanted to write about travelling and discovering the world, not just as traveller or tourist, but more as an experience in my heart. My posts about Dubrovnik, The Blue Danube and Austria have been recognised by people who read my posts and by other bloggers, which always creates a pride in your work.
I also wanted to blog about fashion, and I realised, I have so much to say because fashion is not just clothing, it’s lifestyle, it’s actually everything you do.
What mistake have you learned most from?
When I started to blog, I wanted to post daily. In the beginning I succeeded in posting once a day but the constant and methodological posting drained me and I lost inspiration.
It was a beginner’s mistake, I thought that I could force myself to be inspired every day, but that just isn’t possible. While some posts I could prepare in twenty minutes to half an hour, other took much longer. Sometimes I would need weeks, or even months of investigating, collecting information and experiences or just waiting for certain events to happen and then be inspired to write about it.
It is all about inspiration and it was pretty huge mistake in the beginning forcing myself to write every day. There was a crisis period and I think I didn’t post for a month. I was actually thinking of quitting even though my blog was well visited, commented and appreciated.
What have you learned about yourself?
For me, it was never about success. I never started my blog to be successful or appreciated or famous one day. I started to do this because I wanted to express myself, I wanted to say some things aloud and I wanted to share some ideas, experiences, inspiration and emotions with others.
What are your hopes for the future?
At the moment I have to say I’m satisfied with my progress and where I am right now but still there are so many fields where I want develop myself, as well as my blog.
For example, I would like to be a part of a bigger and stronger community. Right now, I don’t have enough time to read the posts of other bloggers, to comment and to be involved somehow in other people’s work. The chance to collaborate with different bloggers is something I hope to achieve in the future. I would also like to travel more and to have more subjects to investigate. I hope to have the chance to participate in some interesting event, so that I can blog about it and share my experiences. One day, maybe I could even write a book.
There are so many possibilities, so many ideas and so much inspiration everywhere and that makes me happy, satisfied and motivated to strive for more.
